April 2008 presented an opportunity to travel multitude of distances and that too across varying cultures. Occasion was marriages of three friends all in succession with a gap of a day each. Attendance to all was quite mandatory since each one had been there on occasion of my D' day last year.
So, some additional places were included in the travel program to visit some relatives who are at quite some distance.
Below are the details of this travel:
Pune-Dhamangaon - Travel started as barati to attend dear friend Pushkar's wedding. Started off from Pune with ever so boring Maharashtra Exp but the journey was joyful since it was a barat.
Train reached Akola on time from where my parents also joined in along with some more baratis. Barat was welcomed nicely at Dhamagaon and we immediately moved into one of the rooms of the marriage venue. It was scorching sun on top and electricity issues in Vidarbha just compounded the misery due to heat. Nevertheless with such occasions one just forgets all these problems. Evening dossier had the ritual of Simanti and there happened to meet lots of old acquaintances.
Next morning was the D' day of Pushkar and we all got ready quite early. Marathi Turban on the head is just mandatory for me and I just got it. Then the ritual of asking to lose virginity to Lord Hanuman went on coupled with dances from all on the latest Bollywood tunes.
